Psygnosis will move into interactive greens this autumn with Pro 18, a multi-format golf game.
According to sources close to the company, Pro18: World Tour Golf has been designed to appeal to both gaming fans and the growing number of actual golfers, all keen to improve their swings.
The game will include a variety of famous players, such as Tom Lehman, Colin Montgomerie and Vijay Singh. Games will revolve around three courses: Royal County Down, N Ireland; The Lost City Golf Course, Sun City, South Africa; and Coeur D'Alene Resort and Golf Course, Idaho, USA.
Players have been filmed to capture their true playing style and the courses have been surveyed and re-created using photo-realistic rendering techniques, according to sources. Effects include weather and daytime changes. The BBC?s voice of gold, Peter Allis, provides information on the game along with Bobby Clampett of CBS.
You can choose to play alone, slog it out against the pros or play against other players across a network or the Internet. Developed by London based Intelligent Games, it includes a Pro Swing feature with a four-point click control which gives you a greater level of accuracy.
Pro 18: World Tour Golf will be the first title to release in November, 1998 on PC CD-Rom. Further stand alone titles are expected to follow.
