HP's Extreme Scale-Out enterprise server platform targets high performance markets

HP has released a new line of products in an effort to upgrade its high-performance scalable server platform.

The company said that the additions will help to bolster its Extreme Scale-Out enterprise server platform which targets high performance markets as well as datacentres designed for scalability.

Among the additions to the platform is a new blade server model. The BL2x220c G6 places two server boards within a single enclosure, potentially allowing denser and more efficient deployments.

Other new products include a high-performance cluster based on HP's Proliant SL server series, including the new SL 165z G6 rack-mount system, and the StorageWorks X9000 series designed specifically for large scalable datacentres.

The company hopes that the updated platform will appeal to companies needing to build powerful, dense datacentre systems which can be easily expanded.

"The Extreme Scale-Out portfolio was created to meet the demanding needs of scale-out as well as high-performance computing customers that require highly efficient and powerful computing infrastructures," said Steve Cumings, HP's director of marketing for scalable computing and infrastructure.
