LG Electronics has begun selling what it claims is the highest resolution monitor in the UK, a 19in flat-screen model with a Digital Fine Contrast ratio of 10,000:1.

The L197WH uses a proprietary LG visuals chipset which can reset each section of the screen in two milliseconds. When the screen displays moving images the DFC ratio is boosted to 10,000:1 to offer greater clarity.

"LG was the first to bring the 5,000:1 DFC to the UK last year," said Fiona Landsberg, marketing manager at LG Electronics.

The screen is being sent out to retailers now and is likely to cost around £200.
