IBM's Lotusphere 2009 conference is underway in Orlando, and the company has been trumpeting the new offerings it has in store for this year, and how it will continue its battle with Microsoft Exchange.

The focus has been on collaboration, and how new social software tools will integrate with existing systems to meet new communication challenges.

IBM has particularly emphasised its LotusLive collaboration project, which now includes email and file sharing capabilities, and integration with offerings from Skype, LinkedIn and Salesforce.com.
