Viewsonic has launched what it claims is the world's first 27in LCD monitor with a response time of just one millisecond.
The company said that the VX2739wm model is ideal for applications such as gaming, as well as business tasks which require the 1080p high-definition video playback and graphic design, as its low response time can easily handle rapidly moving images.
James Coulson, European marketing manager at ViewSonic, said that the VX2739wm removes the issue of having to buy TVs with data capabilities.
"The VX2739wm is a data monitor first, and has been specifically designed to work optimally with computer-based sources, delivering far higher response times and picture clarity than currently offered by consumer TVs," he said.
As well as the 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, the monitor has 300 nits brightness to provide "accurate colour reproduction and the best possible viewing experience", the firm said.
The monitor has two built-in 2W SRS Premium Sound speakers, and four USB 2.0 sockets to offer a range of connectivity options.
