According to unconfirmed and vigorously denied reports, the vice squad has been investigating an Internet site linked to a gay cathedral service.
A complaint submitted to Scotland Yard alleges that the site published a poem that had been ruled blasphemous in a 1977 court case.
The Love That Dares to Speak Its Name, by Professor James Kirkup, allegedly appeared on the site just before last week's controversial gay cathedral service in Southwark Cathedral.
Mary Whitehouse - once voted the most ridiculous woman in Britain, led a successful campaign to have Gay News prosecuted in 1977 for publishing the poem.
