Thousands of Greek Orthodox zealots and priests have taken to the streets to protest against bar codes, which they claim are Satan's last attempt to rule the earth.

They chanted "Bar codes are the work of the AntiChrist" and "Satan is Schengen" during a demonstration outside the Greek Parliament building earlier this week.

The Parliament is currently debating whether to ratify the Schengen treaty, which aims to end all European border controls among EU member countries and increase levels of police co-operation by means of a database accessible to all signitories.

The zealots believe Schengen is the work of the devil because it will reduce people to being numbers on a machine and take away their individuality.
