Apple has announced the sale of its one millionth iPad, reaching the milestone not even a month after the device was introduced in the US on 3 April.
Apple has also revealed that iPad users have already downloaded over 12 million applications from the App Store, and over 1.5 million e-books from the new iBookstore.
"One million iPads in 28 days. That's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.
"Demand continues to exceed supply and we are working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers."
Apple said in early April that demand for the iPad was so high in the US that it would have to delay shipments to the rest of the world by one month.
UK pre-orders for the Wi-Fi equipped iPad models are set to open on 10 May, followed by an official release later this month.
