Lenovo has launched the new IdeaPad S10e netbook

Laptop giant Lenovo today launched the new IdeaPad S10e netbook, a 10.1in mini laptop with LED backlit display weighing less than 1.2kg.

The S10e is designed as a lightweight mobile PC for consumers and business users, with internet, word processing and limited multimedia capabilities.

The device also feature Instant On, which allows users to check email, browse the internet, conduct video conferencing, view photos or listen to music without having to fully boot the operating system, said Lenovo.

“Our new IdeaPad S10e offers Lenovo's unmatched end user experience and quality to a whole new set of users in the market," said Vincent Fauquenot, vice president of transactional business at Lenovo EMEA.

"With the netbook, Lenovo introduces a very attractive design, price point and specification that delivers affordable mobile computing for families and professionals."

Customers can choose from a range of operating systems including Microsoft Windows XP Home, XP Pro or Novell SLED 10 Linux, a 4GB solid state drive or a hard drive up to 160GB, and Intel Atom processor with several choices of memory size up to 1.5GB.

The IdeaPad S10e netbook will be available from the end of November through Lenovo and Lenovo Business Partners, with prices starting at £299.

In other news, Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) today launched its Amilo Notebook Sa 3650, featuring up to 470 per cent increased graphics performance.

Weighing 2.4kg and with dimensions of 7in x 5.25in x 1.3in, the Sa 3650 has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 graphics card and 512MB dedicated graphics memory, for superior quality high-definition video and HD image processing, said FSC.
