Novell has announced the completion of its acquisition of PlateSpin, a developer of enterprise data centre workload lifecycle management technology.
PlateSpin's key technology, which allows for the movement of workloads between physical and virtual environments regardless of platform or operating system, will be combined with Novell's systems management offerings.
"The addition of PlateSpin to Novell's existing enterprise IT management and Linux solutions will give customers the capabilities they need to build the next-generation data centre," said Joe Wagner, senior vice president and general manager of Novell's Systems and Resource Management unit.
Stephen Pollack, founder and chief executive of PlateSpin, added: "We will continue to focus on the development of the PlateSpin product line."
With the closing of the acquisition, PlateSpin will become part of the Novell Systems and Resource Management unit.
