Business intelligence (BI) specialist Jaspersoft has launched a centrally-managed reporting server designed to provide users with a comprehensive and cost-efficient method of scheduling and distributing interactive reports.
JasperReports Server Professional allows users to store, browse and search reports from a central repository, features that are useful to enterprises that have hundreds or thousands of reports, Karl Van den Bergh, vice president of product strategy at Jaspersoft, told V3.co.uk.
JasperReports Server Professional is centrally managed and can be used by an unlimited number of users, the firm said.
Role- and user-level security is integrated, allowing administrators to provide read/write access to users. This security even extends to within reports, so for example, a US executive will only see the data for their region in a global report, Van den Bergh explained.
Reports can also be scheduled to be published in a PDF format to be delivered to specific people, according to Jaspersoft.
Additionally, the product comes with interactive Flash-powered maps, charts, and widgets, creating an interactive and friendly user interface, the firm said.
Traditionally, Jaspersoft’s BI deployments have generally evolved from reporting, Van den Bergh noted.
“The server allows customers to plug their reports into it and provides them with an entry into the rest of the Jaspersoft suite,” he said.
“The setup is very quick, running out of the box, on an open-source stack. The total suite is 100 per cent Java-based and it can be embedded inside applications.”
Customers are beginning to deploy it to iPhones in the US, according to Jaspersoft. With the high uptake of the iPad within enterprises, the firm is planning to deliver more mobile applications in the near future.
JasperReports Server Professional is available now with prices starting at $9,000 (£5,663).
