The days of traditional phone sex are over as new research reveals that nearly a quarter of all European mobile phone users have engaged in 'text sex' in the belief that they can press all the right buttons through SMS (short message system).
The survey, carried out by mobile phone software provider Magic 4, found that sexy text messages and raunchy Ascii graphics are used by one in four European mobile users, fast replacing naughty voice calls and creating a new concept of 'textual foreplay'.
Magic 4 also found that 50 per cent of UK mobile phone users have fallen for a text message chat-up line. But around 15 per cent of female mobile users have dumped a partner by SMS, with the 'I thnk we shud txt othr ppl' message fast becoming the fear of mobile using men everywhere.
Germans are the most adventurous text-sex addicts, with nearly 80 per cent of the population using the pulling power of SMS, presumably making the most of predictive text input for a 'quickie'.
According to the report, UK men have found the text message method to be a much more convincing way to lie about where they are, no longer straining to disguise the slurring of words or unfamiliar voices in the background and having a reasonable alibi for badly typed messages.
Magic 4 said 90 per cent of male users have lied about their location in a text message.
