Intel has set up a 'Solutions Conference' alongside its Developer Forum, to help companies use its technology to solve business problems.
Delegates attending the conference heard of new developments like Westminster Council's use of wireless technology to exchange data with its speed cameras, and British Gas equipping meter readers with Centrino laptops for quicker and more accurate filing of information.

After the conference ends, a special section of the Intel website will house information useful for those trying to design technical solutions to business problems.
The company has already included 450 white papers and case studies for use.
"This is what the market tells us it needs," said John Davies, director of the solutions market development group.
"Our focus is about creating demand by coming up with new uses for technology in companies. These 'transforming industries' are leading the way. We're focusing on healthcare, manufacturing, financial services and the government."
The focus is not solely on Intel's products - the company has entered into partnerships with other technology firms. Adobe, for example, has designed a new form of electronic document that can only be viewed by authorised personnel. It can even be changed remotely using a smartphone.
