Online recruitment agency Monster.com is shrinking, and will shed about 10 per cent of its staff in the wake of the economic downturn.
In a twist of irony, the company will be cutting about 125 jobs at unidentified locations. Monster.com has offices all over the world and employs over 9000 people.

Apparently the downsizing comes as a result of orders to cut costs across the company, despite the fact that it has been profitable for three years.
But in the aftermath, internet rumours abound that some employees were told to clear their desks and vacate the premises within 30 minutes. So the chances are that the ex-workers will be looking to a rival recruitment firm for help finding a new job.
And to add insult to injury, the current 'Monster Poll' question on the website is: "Which would you most like to say to your boss?"
But it looks like the favourite response of the moment might be missing from the selection, and it's too late to tick the 'I quit' box.
