The new pricing plans are designed to provide more control over conferencing budgets

BT has announced two new pricing plans for BT Conferencing customers which it claims will allow companies to manage conference budgets more efficiently.

The first option provides unlimited assisted and self-service videoconferencing, while the second offers unlimited videoconferencing when BT's Engage web interface is used to schedule and launch the conferences.

Bizarrely, however, BT does not seem to be able to provide specific details on how much each will cost. At the time of writing V3.co.uk was still waiting to hear back from the telecoms giant.

Jeff Prestel, general manager of BT Conferencing's Video Business Unit, claimed that the plans will provide users with straightforward pricing structures.

"Customers want simple, reliable and cost-effective videoconferencing solutions, and the new pricing options give a clear view of expenditure as well as highly competitive pricing," he said.

BT Conferencing also announced a new pricing plan for its Global Video Exchange (GVE) service which allows customers to hold Cisco TelePresence meetings across different networks.

The new plans provide the option of selecting monthly allotments of TelePresence events using GVE in packs of 25, 50, 100 or 250 per month for any duration. It also includes up to five TelePresence endpoints per event.

"These offers are the first in a series of releases that will help expand customers' abilities to communicate internally and externally with suppliers and partners using video technology," said Prestel.

Earlier this week, Polycom and Juniper announced a partnership to offer low-cost telepresence, while Cisco launched a telepresence standard, suggesting that the companies see videoconferencing as a large growth area for the coming year.
