Mozilla has posted the 3.0.7 update of its Firefox 3 browser, promising multiple security patches and stability fixes.
The five security fixes include three which address flaws rated as 'critical' by Mozilla. The patched components include PNG and XUL. If targeted, each of the three issues could allow an attacker to remotely execute code on a targeted system.
The other two include a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the handling of XML code, and a URL spoofing flaw rated as a 'minor' security risk by Mozilla.
Among the bugs and stability issues fixed in the new version is a problem which caused cookie files to disappear, and a bug which sometimes left the file menu disabled.
Also included in the update are a number of minor security fixes for all versions of the browser, as well as specific fixes for Mac, Windows and Linux versions.
Users can download the new version of Firefox through the browser's built-in update components or through Mozilla's Firefox web site.

Its interesting to see how Mozilla's security updates are actually installed by end-users. Its one thing to issue a fix - but the fix has to get out there. As you can see, it can take a few weeks and even then, some people drag their feet.
