Compuware has updated its portfolio management tools

Compuware has updated its Changepoint project portfolio management application, which it said will help firms better manage enterprise resources, including customers and mobile workers.

Changepoint 2010 has been boosted with new features, and has support for devices including BlackBerrys and the iPhone.

As well as additional hardware support, the new release will improve team collaboration and executive decision making, and offer other usability enhancements, the firm said.

Compuware describes Changepoint as a project portfolio management tool which can be used to manage IT, and the customer's expectations of it, from a top down level.

For example, it could be used to manage mobile workers through the use of remote access to their devices.

"Compuware Changepoint continues to improve the user experience, providing today's distributed, mobile technology workforce with greater value while also serving growing project management demands and more sophisticated professional service functions," said Lori Ellsworth, vice president of Compuware Changepoint.

Service desk administration has also been tightened up, and Changepoint now offers "embedded screen capture" for better analysis and resolution of problems.

New collaboration tools have also been added, along with search tools which let users carry out advanced searches on a folder and attachment level.

Taken together and coupled with a handful of usability improvements this should improve executive decision making, according to Compuware, thanks to the use of graphs for predicting likely scenarios and development roadmaps.

Compuware Changepoint 2010 will be generally available on 15 July. There is no additional charge for existing users.
