LAS VEGAS: Samsung has unveiled a line of products designed around the 3D TV standard, including five different television sets.
Headlining the rollout was the 9000 series, an LED set just 7.2mm thick, or roughly the width of a pencil. The new set also sports touch-screen controls and a drop-down control panel.
"This is everything consumers will want from a TV," said Samsung US president Tim Baxter. "While the screen is slim and flat, the experience is deep and immersive."
The 3D TV rollout is the latest in an ongoing trend among vendors at CES. Earlier on Wednesday two of Samsung's rival vendors, LG and Toshiba, introduced 3D TV sets of their own.
Baxter said that Samsung planned to differentiate itself from its competitors by offering a complete 3D setup. In addition to the television sets, the company plans to offer a 3D Blu-ray player and a complete home cinema sound system.
"We will lead the industry in creating the 3D market by creating the widest range of 3D products," said Baxter.
Samsung also announced a lengthy roster of other products, including a new media player, two new reader tablets, notebooks, netbooks and a mercury-free projector system.
