CommonTime is the latest vendor to add support for Apple's iPad, announcing compatibility with the tablet device in its mSuite enterprise mobility platform.
The tool, which mobilises access to IBM's Lotus Notes for email, instant messaging, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes, adds the iPad to its existing support for Apple's iPhone.
It is also available for other platforms, including Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android and Palm's WebOS.
CommonTime said that, while tablet devices have existed for years, the iPad heralds a new era in enterprise mobility.
"The iPad brings a wealth of new options to newcomers and veterans of mobile working," said CommonTime chief executive Ian Knight
"It blends the mobility of a smartphone with the usability of a laptop to provide the perfect solution for a number of mobile working practices that may have previously been overlooked."
CommonTime also said that its mDesign Studio rapid development environment for mobile applications is also being developed to provide compatibility with the iPhone OS (which includes the iPad) and Android operating systems.
A free trial of CommonTime's mSuite can be downloaded from the firm's web site.
