3Com UK has axed the role of country manager as part of an ongoing shake-up of the networking vendor's UK sales team.
Last week, 3Com brought in Buddie Ceronie, regional director for eastern Europe, Russia, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, to review its UK sales operation and identify areas that required change.
His first move sees Paul Malcolm's position as country manager disappear. "We have made the position of country manager redundant and are now looking for an alternative role for Malcolm," said Ceronie.
He indicated last week that the review is not about cutting staff but restructuring to improve efficiency.
Malcolm will now have to wait for a new role at 3Com UK. "We do not have an alternative position right now, but we are a big company and there are opportunities," said Ceronie.
