HP has unveiled the latest edition to its line of Compaq enterprise desktop systems.
The company said that the new Compaq 8000 Elite line would target buyers seeking affordable systems while still delivering enterprise-level support and security.
HP said that the 8000 Elite systems would be bundled with its standard ProtectTools enterprise security manager and would feature improved performance and energy efficiency. The company said that the systems will start at $800 and will sport options such as a 64GB SSD drive and up 8GB RAM.
Additionally, HP said that the new systems will be supported through Intel's Stable Image Platform Programme, which is aimed at extending the lifecycle of the system and simplifying IT management by guaranteeing processor support for 15 months.
The company hopes that the new systems appeal to IT buyers who are increasingly budget conscious in the middle of the ongoing economic hardship.
“HP is making enterprise-grade technology and energy-efficient PCs more affordable for customers who want energy-saving features as well as improved security and manageability,” said Alan Reed, vice president and general manager of business desktops for HP's personal systems group.
“Our reliable and long-lifecycle desktop PCs ensure a strong foundation for our customers’ businesses.”
