The headline grabber in the run-up to this year's Macworld show in San Francisco was the news that Steve Jobs was intending to skip the show for the first time.
While his absence has certainly put a dampener on proceedings - his opening keynote was the star attraction for many years - Mac fans were still expecting a raft of exciting announcements concerning all things Apple.
