Jaspersoft BI 4

Open source business intelligence (BI) software vendor Jaspersoft has updated its flagship BI suite with a web application architecture, improving usability and personalisation.

Jaspersoft 4 has been built on open web standards, which means it can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud in a multi-tenant software-as-a-service environment.

The suite has been architected in a way that separates presentation and content layers, meaning that BI experts within firms can make cascading style sheet changes to customise the look and feel without affecting the underlying functionality, the firm said.

The modular, web standards-based user interface architecture enables these experts, dubbed "BI builders" by Jaspersoft, to create different interfaces for different types of user, so that the product remains relevant and useful for as many people as possible in the organisation.

"The proliferation of data within web applications and the transition of IT services to an on-demand utility requires a flexible, web standards-based BI platform that is ready for deployment anywhere, and for any information consumer profile," said Brian Gentile, chief executive of Jaspersoft.

"Jaspersoft 4 is a first-in-class BI platform architected from the ground up to enable faster custom-built, web-based BI applications that can make BI more pervasive across the business."

The user interface has been designed to imitate a typical intuitive consumer-style web app, with the aim of increasing usability and productivity and limiting the amount of user training needed, said the vendor.
