Google will offer new Ad Innovations tools for developers

Google has launched a new service that will allow developers to access the company's advertising tools.

The Ad Innovations page will let the company share many of the ad tools and services that its engineers are working on.

Google said that it will let web developers use the tools and then collect feedback to help further develop the advertising systems.

Google has already placed a number of new advertising tools and services on the Ad Innovations site, including an 'above the fold' tool to automatically place ads entirely within the browser window, a 'search funnels' search engine optimisation tool and click-to-call advertisements for mobile phones.

The company hopes that the service will help it better craft its advertising services and allow developers to become familiar with new features and services.

"The principle behind the advertising products we build at Google is simple: ads are information," wrote Susan Wojcicki, vice president of product management at Google, in a blog posting introducing the service.

"But the type of information that ads provide is getting more varied and inventive all the time, and as a result ads are getting more interesting, social and useful."
