Easynet will fit new SureStream and EtherStream installations in 20 working days

Business internet provider Easynet Connect has promised to get new SureStream and EtherStream installations up and running in no longer than 20 working days for its enterprise customers.

However, having the Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) and Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) up and running within the time period remains subject to capacity at the enabled exchange, line lengths and BT conditions.

SDSL has the advantage of providing the same upstream and downstream speeds, but does not allow analogue calls. This can be remedied with the inclusion of another line or by using IP telephony.

Easynet Connect claimed to be the first provider to cut its installation times to 30 working days during the course of last year. The company has also pledged to cut guaranteed installation times on traditionally longer-lead BT leased-line installations from 60 days to 40 days.

"Internet connectivity has fast become the lifeblood of British enterprise, especially with the growth of cloud computing and the importance of e-commerce, " said Chris Stening, managing director of Easynet Connect.

"But too many companies, especially small and growing companies, have had to put up with slow installation times from ISPs. We are committed to putting an end to this and have led our competitors in this, initially bringing installation times down to 30 days and cutting this to just 20 days."

Easynet Connect explained that workers laid off during previous downturns have often used redundancy payments to launch their own business, but have been left floundering before they have even had a chance to get off the ground because of delays such as these.
