Security firm SmoothWall has launched Mobile Guardian, a new software filtering tool designed to protect mobile workers from web-based threats.
The new product features content-based filtering to ensure that users do not access malicious or inappropriate content on the web, said the firm.
It features Dynamic Content Analysis functionality that uses algorithms to analyse and detect such content in real time, overcoming the limitations of traditional URL-filtering technology, the company said.
“With mounting concerns about productivity, security and compliance, employers can no longer afford to let the activities of remote workers go unchecked," said SmoothWall product manager Tom Newton.
"Web filtering and acceptable use policies should be consistently applied to all users – particularly remote ones, since they often represent a greater threat than staff working within the safety of the secure company network.”
The new offering is available now as a desktop client, offering firms an easy way of extending acceptable use and filtering policies to their mobile workforce, said SmoothWall.
