Compaq has been left red faced by a defacement double whammy as two of its sub domains were vandalised by two different hacking groups.
The two sub domain servers, both running hackers' favourite Microsoft IIS 4 on NT, were hit overnight. Compaq's main site, Compaq.com, runs the less attacked Apache web server on Compaq's own flavour of Unix, Tru64.
One of the defacements on www.ols2.software-acq.compaq.com by Antihackerlink appears to have used the well documented Unicode exploit which doesn't really allow for any graphical defacement. The message, quoted here verbatim, even reads: "bad defacing i dont care Commpaq Should Use COndom".
On the second hack, Prime Suspectz carried out a more graphical defacement on lotus.carepaq.emea.compaq.com, leaving a logo with the simple message "Prime Suspectz owns Compaq".
Both sites have been patched and now redirect back to Compaq's home page. The company had not returned our calls at the time of going to press.
Mirrors of the hacked pages are available at defacement archive alldas.de.
