Scottish police are hunting a gang of youths who videoed themselves tying a hamster to a rocket and setting it off.

The incident occurred in the Possilpark area of Glasgow and was recorded on a video phone. The exact time of the attack is not known, but is believed to have been in the past few weeks.

"The crime was videoed by mobile phone," said a police spokesperson.

"We are aware of the incident and enquiries are ongoing. Animal charities are also investigating the matter."

They urged anyone with any information about the crime to call Saracen Police Office in Glasgow on 0141 532 3900 or to call the Crimestoppers helpline on 0800 555 111 where they can give information anonymously.
