The new blog could help developers write more successful apps

In its latest step to encourage developers to build applications for its BlackBerry devices, Research In Motion (RIM) has launched a new blog site for the developer community.

The BlackBerry Developer's Blog is the newest addition to the firm's BlackBerry Developer Zone experience, and is split into three separate areas: technical discussion and insights, market insight and developer engagement.

The first section covers best practices for BlackBerry development and code snippets and technical information on how to build successful, engaging applications.

The market insight section will include "trends and opportunities in mobile development and mobile applications that RIM sees".

Finally, the blog will be used as a tool to help RIM engage more with developers around the world, by pushing out information on events in specific regions and opportunities to meet other developers, said RIM.

Mike Kirkup, head of developer relations at RIM, wrote: "We have been working very hard to create a great blog for our developer community with compelling and informative content.

"One of the important aspects of a great blog is community engagement and we’re making that a primary focus on the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog. We will, of course, respond to your questions and comments, but we’re also looking for you to share your experiences and insights with the rest of the BlackBerry development community."
