Online mapping site Map24 has added dynamically updated traffic data to its route planning applications.
The data now includes information on traffic congestion, roadworks, narrow lanes, temporary traffic lights and other conditions.
Traffic data is overlaid on the Map24 site so that users can easily view potentially problematic traffic conditions.
By hovering over an icon, such as the traffic symbol denoting roadworks, users can view the type of problem and take steps to alter their route. Traffic information is updated every four minutes.
"People are increasingly using mapping websites to plan their journeys, so the ability to see and plan for traffic hot spots is very useful," said Chris Wallett, UK managing director at Map24 owner Mapsolute.
"No-one wants to sit on the M25 or M62 for hours on end, so diverting around a problem or simply delaying a journey can be time-saving and remove some of the stress of travelling by car.
"Armed with more information about traffic conditions, individuals can also play their part in ensuring that roads are as clear as possible."
