Fortinet and SonicWall have released updated security solutions

Network security vendors Fortinet and SonicWall today launched updated products promising improved performance and manageability without compromising on security.

The latest version of Fortinet's database security and compliance product, FortiDB, now features improvements to scalability and the user interface, centralised policy management, and faster deployment and maintenance.

"We are expecting FortiDB 4.0 to be extremely popular with our enterprise customers because of its ease of deployment and improved scalability and performance," said Paul Barnwell, principal director at SecureDB Consulting.

"With the ability to manage hundreds of databases, our customers can expect lower deployment and maintenance costs."

SonicWall, meanwhile, has announced SonicOS 5.5, new firmware for its Unified Threat Management Firewall line which allows the appliance to process more traffic and improve overall productivity, according to the firm.

SonicWall's new SES 7.2 email product features improved reputation management, blocking email-borne threats before they hit the network, and can be bought as an appliance, as Windows server software, as a cloud-based solution through SonicWall partners, or as a hybrid-cloud solution, said the vendor.

Finally, the new GMS 6.0 offering features application firewall reporting to give IT departments greater insight into application utilisation rates, as well as a new application programming interface designed to improve integration between GMS 6.0 and other enterprise apps.
