Sunbelt Software has launched a major anti-malware product in the UK, designed to provide administrators with real-time monitoring technology that is easy to deploy and manage, and has low resource usage.
The security provider's Vipre Enterprise product features multiple techniques designed to detect and protect against existing and unknown threats, including traditional signature- and heuristics-based technologies, as well as advanced behavioural analysis, according to Sunbelt chief executive Alex Eckelberry.
"There is a limit to what you can detect with emulation techniques," he said. "The only way to know what an unknown program is doing is look at behavioural analysis. We have designed this product with modern malware in mind."
Vipre Enterprise contains support for Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail, as well as for any email program that uses POP3 and SMTP, the firm said.
In addition, Sunbelt's FirstScan technology bypasses the operating system to scan the hard drive directly for malware, removing infections when they are found.
A management control system, meanwhile, gives administrators four customisable dashboards to view scanning and remediation activities at a glance, while dynamic translation technology improves the product's processing speed by a factor of 40, said Eckelberry.
