Networks infrastructure copmany Logica will be gunning for a bizarre world record next week when the company attempts to send the "fastest text message around the world", it was revealed today.
At 14:30 on Wednesday 20 February at the 3GSM conference in Cannes, Logica will be sending a short message service (SMS) note around the world, passing through bases in each continent before returning to Cannes in under two seconds.
"The only continent the message won't be stopping in is Antarctica," joked Janet Cohen, head of business strategy at Logica.
"We don't perceive a great demand for text messaging from penguins."
Also next Wednesday, the group will be announcing its interim results for 2001.
