IT services providers Computacenter and 1E have joined forces to help firms monitor and control energy use more tightly, boosting compliance and cost reduction efforts.
The partnership will see Computacenter provide 1E's NightWatchman, Shopping, Nomad Enterprise and 1E WakeUp software solutions to its customers worldwide.
The tools include capabilities such as power management, the remote powering-up of PCs, network optimisation and licensing management.
According to 1E's recently commissioned 2009 PC Energy Report, organisations that leave 10,000 PCs on each night could be wasting on average £168,000 a year, and emitting 828 tons of CO2.
Sumir Karayi, chief executive of 1E, said: “I’m delighted that we’re going to be working with Computacenter because this partnership will address some very real concerns in businesses today.
"More than 60 per cent of employees believe their companies should do more to reduce power consumption, and Computacenter will help us drive this change in business.”
