NTL has admitted to having problems with its interactive TV services after customers across the country were unable to use parts of the service for the entire weekend.
The cable operator confirmed on Monday that a major fault had left some customers unable to access its interactive email service. The cause of the problem is not yet known.
One customer from the Brighton area said that the service was out of use all day Saturday and Sunday. NTL's help desk confirmed that there was a "serious problem" with the service.
A company spokesman said: "There have been a number of reported cases from customers. It is an intermittent problem affecting some customers across the country, but not everyone. The cause of the fault is unknown and we don't know how long it will take to fix."
He said that "major attention" is being paid to fixing the problem, and that customers will be notified as soon as the service is resumed.
