Samsung Electronics has developed ultra-fast 1Gb OneNand Flash memory designed for next-generation mobile phones which it claims boasts a fourfold read speed increase over conventional Nand Flash performance.
Manufactured using the company's 90nm fabrication process, the OneNand memory combines the high-speed data read function of NOR flash and the advanced data storage of Nand flash.
Samsung OneNand is a single chip comprising a NOR Flash interface, Nand Flash controller logic, Nand Flash Array and up to 5KB of internal buffer Ram.
It features a 66MHz synchronous interface and cache read function to enable an enhanced read performance of 108Mbps, the electronics giant claimed.
