Managed hosting provider NetBenefit has launched a cloud-based service designed for web site owners that experience large fluctuations in demand.
NetBenefit Cloud allows customers to choose the required capacity via a web-based control panel that allows them to build their preferred combination of operating system, CPU, hard drive and RAM, the firm said.
Customers can then increase or decrease their requirements as they wish, paying for the service in hourly increments if required.
The service also offers a range of advanced firewall options, including virtual private networks, the firm added.
Paul Hassan, product manager at NetBenefit, claimed that the cloud-based system gives the end user far more control over their environment than traditional hosting services.
"We give users a fully featured system that suits their own requirements, is easy to use and, importantly, provides all the security you would expect from an experienced managed hosting provider," he said.
"At NetBenefit we firmly believe that the cloud should support your way of doing business, and that your business should not have to adapt in order to take advantage of the benefits of cloud hosting."
NetBenefit Cloud was built with Microsoft's Hyper-V technology and 11th-generation Dell servers to provide greater redundancy and resilience, the firm said.
