IT salaries in London continue to outpace those in the next most competitive region, the South East, according to recruitment experts.
A recent analysis of over 4,000 IT positions by recruitment agency CV Screen found that salaries in London had increased by 4.3 per cent over the past 12 months.
This compares to the 3.4 per cent increase in the South East region.
Alex Lawson, account manager for London at CV Screen, said that the average permanent IT salary in London now stands at £38,577.
"There is obviously a premium attributed to working in London and the survey shows that salaries are 15 per cent higher than those in the rest of the South East region," he said.
"The London IT jobs market remains strong and we are experiencing very high demand for staff at the beginning of 2008."
Although many commentators predict that the next 12 months will be more testing, the early signs are that the IT jobs market is holding up well, the agency said.
