Cisco

Cisco has posted a security update for its networking and unified communications tools, addressing 10 flaws in the IOS networking firmware and two in the Unified Communications platform.

The IOS update patches firmware used in Cisco's routers and switches. Some of the vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to launch denial-of-service attacks on the targeted device.

Cisco said that several of the vulnerabilities can be mitigated by disabling the H.323 and SIP voice services.

A successful attack on the Unified Communications hardware could disrupt phone services by causing a denial-of-service error on a targeted system.

Administrators are being advised to check the updates for possible compatibility issues, and if possible consult with a maintenance provider prior to deploying the updates.
