Web security firm Finjan announced a new web gateway appliance today, designed to provide an easy-to-manage, multi-layered solution for firms looking to reduce costs and improve total cost of ownership.
The Secure Web Gateway (SWG) combines content inspection and anti-virus technology, as well as protection against zero-hour vulnerabilities, code obfuscation techniques and drive-by attacks, said the firm.
The product also features support for PDF and Flash files, and data leak prevention capabilities through the outbound scanning of HTTP/SSL traffic and the prevention of 'Trojans phoning home' communications, said Finjan.
Administrators can also block potentially unwanted applications such as Skype or instant messaging clients that could adversely affect staff productivity.
"It is good to see that Finjan has moved on to cover the major areas of the infosecurity market that Butler Group predicts will be important in 2009: web protection, information security and data loss prevention," said Andy Kellett, senior research analyst at Butler Group.
"Finjan's new Secure Web Gateway covers all these issues and fits well around what we think enterprises should be concentrating on."
