Nintendo has revealed plans to feature connectivity between its forthcoming Nintendo Wii next-generation console and its existing Nintendo DS portable gaming device.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said that Wii users would be able to download Nintendo DS demos to their handheld, while the DS device could also be used as a touch screen controller for compatible Wii games.
Using a feature known as the DS Station users will be able to download supplementary material, which could add special content to DS games played on the Wii.
Iwata said that a forthcoming Wii game, Pokemon Battle Revolution, would allow interconnectivity with the DS Pokemon Diamond & Pearl games using Wi-Fi connectivity between the two devices.
