VeriSign, the domain name registrar, is reviving the Network Solutions brand name to try and rebuild its business of selling domain names, email and website services.
VeriSign bought Network Solutions in 2000 for $15bn (£9.3bn) but dropped the name after a year.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Network Solutions will now be more independent from VeriSign.
The new president of Network Solutions, Champ Mitchell, told the paper the registrar business is beginning to stabilise.
The new Network Solutions will focus on mass-market business while VeriSign will look at corporate business.
The other part of the former Network Solutions, which included maintaining the master .com and .net directories, will not be part of the new business, Mitchell said.
