This week's big news has been the developments in the Pirate Bay court case, a file-sharing web site taken to court by the music industry for allegedly allowing the illegal distribution of copyright materials. Monday saw four of the site’s founders standing trial for copyright infringement; by Tuesday part of the charges against them had been dropped due to technical misunderstandings.
Apple and Microsoft dominated the rest of the top 10 this week. vnunet.com readers were keen to keep up with the latest iPhone news around jail-breaking, possible price cuts and a patent infringement case; while Microsoft also faced legal action over customer charges for downgrading from Vista to XP. On a more positive note, the software giant unveiled Windows Mobile 6.5 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, a major overhaul of the platform which will see better support for touch-screen phones.
