Symantec analysts will identify and help defend against emerging internet threats

Symantec has announced a new threat analysis service combining the firm's data gathering network and security analysis to help organisations gain greater insight into the threat landscape and proactively mitigate risk.

The Cyber Threat Analysis Program (CTAP) provides access to Symantec's Global Intelligence Network which includes data on vulnerabilities, malicious code, phishing, spam, data leakage, underground cyber economies and honeypot networks, according to the firm.

As part of the service, Symantec analysts are made available on-site and in a remote capacity to customise the analysis, response and actions according to the needs of the client.

The analysts then identify and help defend against emerging internet security threats, covering four key areas: cyber intelligence, network operations analysis, malicious code analysis and forensics.

"Organisations today face the significant challenge of managing cyber security threats that arrive more quickly, are more sophisticated and allow minimal time for proactive defence, combined with the pressure of driving down costs and leveraging past investments more effectively to enhance cyber security posture," said Anil Chakravarthy, senior vice president of Symantec Enterprise Services.

"CTAP mitigates cyber risk with a comprehensive approach to threat identification, intelligence gathering and validation, and delivers timely response by seasoned professionals to protect critical client information, all supported by specialised tools to enact response."

CTAP is available now, with pricing dependent on the number of Symantec analysts retained.
