Canon's iR 3225/N, iR 3235/N and iR 3245/N models output in black-and-white at 1,200dpi

Canon has introduced a new range of monochrome multi-function printers (MFPs) in the UK designed to save energy and support cost-effective workgroup printing.

Available from this month, the iR 3225/N, iR 3235/N and iR 3245/N models output in black-and-white at 1,200dpi, but can scan in colour.

An optional i-send feature enables users to distribute scanned documents via email, FTP or iFax.

Canon said that the new range provides security features such as encryption of data stored on the internal hard drive, while PDF encryption and signature options enable users to control access to scanned documents.

Compared to previous MFPs, the new devices save electricity through a faster warm up process and shorter time to produce the first page, according to Canon.

"Now more than ever, businesses are demanding high-quality, cost-effective black-and-white printing," said Tracey Fielden, head of office marketing at Canon UK.

"By offering colour scanning and improved performance, usability and security, we are confident that the iR 3225-45 series will become the black-and-white device of choice for the workgroup environment."

Prices start at £5,060 for the 25ppm iR3225, or £6,545 for the network-enabled iR3225N.
