Games company Electronic Arts has turned to horror writer Clive Barker to spice up its latest release.

Barker has lent his hand to a PC game called Clive Barker's Undying. Gamers are put into the shoes of occult troubleshooter Magnus Wolfram who is called to Ireland to sort out a devilish problem.

The game was developed by Dreamworks Interactive and features spooky mansions, and battles with strange and terrifying creatures. Luckily, Wolfram has a few magic tricks up his sleeve as well as a revolver.

The programmers have produced some mind-blowing effects. Gusts of wind, for example, blow out a candle and plunge the hero into total darkness.

Gamers will have to wait until later this year to get their hands on Undying. A multiplayer version is unlikely to appear before next spring.
