McAfee's new Threat Center offers an overview of current security threats

McAfee has launched the McAfee Threat Center security portal that offers an overview of current security threats.

These include vulnerabilities, malware, spam, phishing scams and " potentially unwanted programs" like adware. The portal tracks threats to all platforms and services.

Stuart McClure, senior vice president of global threats at McAfee, said: " Through the new Threat Center, consumers and businesses can access a simplified, single portal for the tools they need to learn and react more rapidly to evolving threats."

The portal joins a crowded marketplace. The SANS Internet Storm Center and US-Cert both report on emerging threats ranging from worm outbreaks to software vulnerabilities.

The Secunia website, meanwhile, specialises in software vulnerabilities.
