Mobile Everywhere allows workers to use their handset as an authentication device

Mobile solutions firm Accumulate has launched a new platform that it claims will help businesses use mobile devices to provide secure access to company platforms.

Mobile Everywhere for Enterprise will let workers use their handset as an authentication device, and could replace common security solutions like one-time codes, hardware token authenticators, certificates and passwords, the firm said.

Accumulate added that using just one device, in this case a mobile phone, allows customers to save money on logistics and physical security tokens.

"Many organisations would like employees to have secure access to the company system wherever they are. The problem has been to find simple and cost-effective solutions," said Accumulate chief executive Stefan Hultberg.

"With Accumulate's technology companies can now provide employees with access to information without high investments in special code boxes, scratch cards or one-time codes via SMS. We make use of the user's mobile as a security device for login, authentication and signing."

Security codes are sent and received over the internet, and are protected against man-in-the-middle attacks, the firm said. Companies can also save money by not needing to use SMS to send codes.

Mobile Everywhere works on all mobiles and with all mobile operators, the firm said.
