Google has unveiled the second version of Google Groups, which is designed to make it easier to follow online chat groups.
Enhanced tools allow fast searches of the company's Usenet database of online forums, which it bought in 2001. Users will also find it easier to create and run public and private forums, the search firm promised.
"Google Groups enables users to easily gather together groups of friends, acquaintances and those sharing interests, and communicate with them directly via email, newsletters and message boards," said Jonathan Rosenberg, vice president of product management at Google.
"These online communities connect people with information they care about, and that furthers our commitment to enhancing the online experience for Google users."
Other enhancements include an improved user interface, email summaries of discussions delivered to your inbox and the addition of subject-specific advertising on the site.
