Surprisingly, it is not a sign that your computer has a modicum of taste. But the warning that the new CD from Canadian singer Celine Dion will crash your PC will at least prevent noise pollution in an office near you.
The A New Day Has Come album has been embedded with copy protection to prevent it being ripped and made available for free on the web. It is the first time that music giant Sony has introduced such protection.
vnunet.com's sister publication Hollywood Reporter said that the CD will not corrupt computers, but it will cause them to crash. As a result, the CD may not be ejected properly.
European copies of the CD come with a warning that it is not suitable to be played on PCs.
Whatever the reason, the internet community will no doubt breathe a collective sigh of relief.
